Silke

Freak The Sheep is bFM's long running local music show, committed to breaking the up n' comers from across the country and playing the choicest new releases. No genre will go unplayed, no favourites on this show. Newzild musical niceness across the board, presented by a German NZ-music lover, Silke.

With many thanks to Amplifier.co.nz!

When Silke was approximately three years old, she had photos of the Beatles above her bed rather than posters of kittens or ponies like her friends.

She spent some time extensively touring with local punk bands in the 90s at a time when she was actually supposed to go to school.

Silke has had super fancy music journalism adventures that she likes to talk about when playing a song of one of those bands and helped her university's local campus radio station to get it's frequency, which she'd then dorkily abuse to play as much NZ music as possible.

She can sometimes be seen working on big and small events, or sitting in some corner in St. Kevin's Arcade, playing ukulele, which may just be her favorite thing to do, ever.

Silke still mourns Elliott Smith, wants to marry The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra, the Ramones make her want to hop around, she'll play Goodshirt until they agree to get back together, and if she can find a cool song in a language other than English, it'll make her day.

She's also always worried that she'll accidentally leave the microphone on, because she just can't help but compulsively sing along to a good tune.

Be in touch and send us an email with a link to good quality versions of your songs on Bandcamp, Soundcloud etc! No MP3s please, unless we ask you for it. mailtjheshekep@gm2ail.cjoms
