Gehan Gunasekara is a senior lecturer at the university of Auckland Business School.

He is a researcher of franchising law and privacy law. He has published in New Zealand and overseas in both areas. His interest in privacy is on the issues of business compliance with privacy rules including the Privacy Act and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act.

Gehan is particularly interested in privacy issues that arise when personal information is sent across borders and the implications of activities such as online social networking.

Gehan has made submissions to Government bodies including the Law Commission and has been consulted by the Law Commission in connection with the current review of the Privacy Act.
