Seeded Ep 16 Derek Henderson
MP3, 24m40s, 22.6MB, first broadcast 14 August 2010
Derek Henderson is an internationally-renowned fashion photographer, who claims to not really be a fashion photographer, despite his work consistently appearing in mags like Vogue, iD, and most other fashion-orientated publications in the last couple of decades.
That isn't all though. He has published two books of photographic works -- one that features no humans whatsoever -- ; exhibited internationally; and directed television commercials.
Fittingly, the music Derek has chosen for Seeded represents snapshots of certain periods of his life. This is fortunate, as Derek claims that he has no answers to any questions posed about photography…and says he doesn’t particularly understand anything about his field of expertise.
So...he chooses the Blondie tune he & his teenage buddies cruised the streets of rural NZ to; takes in ; the blue-eyed soul of Dave Bowie that can bring a sultry photo; the deep thought & delicacy of David Sylvian; the swirling psychedelic stopm of the Stone Roses; and the Neil Young tune which gave name to a poignant collection of photographs.
