A run-down of the week in politics with one of our intelligent, informative, and insightful political commentators: Rod Oram (political/economic commentator), Bryce Edwards (Politics lecturer at the University of Otago), and David Slack (speechwriter/casual commentator).

TUESDAYS

7.20am - AUSA President Daniel Haines (every other week)
Dan Haines crosses the quad every second Tuesday to keep us up to date with the goings on at Auckland University Student Association (AUSA). Student issues and University activities aplenty.

7.40am - The Green Party
Every Tuesday morning co-leaders Russel Norman and Metiria Turei take turns in giving us the Green perspective on current political and social issues.

8.15am - That’s Science
Every Tuesday we delve deep into the world of Science with help from our rotating cast of science-y people: Sociologist Dr. Campbell Jones, geologist/paleontologist Dr. Hamish Campbell and an animal expert from Auckland Zoo.

8.40am - Choice Cuts
Dariush Lolaiy, owner and Head Chef of Cazador, comes in for a chat about game cuisine and eating all the parts of the animal that don't normally feature in western recipes! Learn how you can eat the whole animal and the best ways to prepare it.

WEDNESDAYS

7.20am - National Party MP Nikki Kaye (every other week)
National MP for Auckland Central Nikki Kaye talks to Breakfast about city- and nation-wide issues and just a sprinkling of National party policy.

7.40am - Brown’s Town
Supercity Mayor Len Brown takes turns with his deputy, Penny Hulse, to give us Auckland Council’s perspective on local issues.

8.15am - Lawline
Always helpful and often entertaining, our resident lawyer Tim Riley dishes out legal advice to listeners. Whether it’s unpaid parking fines or employment disputes – no problem is too tricky for Tim.

8.15am - Conspiracy Corner
Having just completed a PhD on the topic of conspiracy theories, academic and blogger Dr. Matthew Dentith brings a new conspiracy theory to the bFM table each week and unpacks it with glee.

FRIDAYS

8.15am - Genre Rules
Ethnomusicologist and music nerd Dr. Kirsten Zemke analyses a different musical genre each week. From K Pop to Norwegian Black Metal and many more, Kirsten takes us from origins to present day, set to a background of genre-defining tracks.
