Disparate Pop

Hello. My name is Yule.
Sometimes I write songs. Sometimes I also record
them. I don't often let my songs outside of my house but a few of them are ready to discover the world now, so I am letting them out to meet people like you.
I have made a CD called "Aaaarrrggh!!!" from some of my songs I recorded and mixed these songs at my North Dunedin and Grey Lynn flats between 2004 –2008. One day the songs got Mastered at York Street Studios by Chris Winchcombe. They feel all special now.
Each of the songs I wrote on "Aaaarrrggh!!!" tries to be different from the other songs on "Aaaarrggh!!!", but they all get along. They are all fun songs, but some of them have a darker idea of fun than others.
I think it is because some of the songs are more grown up than the other songs.
The grown up songs' idea of fun might be making out at the back of a Quentin Tarantino movie or poking a dead dog with a stick but the little songs would probably have more fun on a jungle gym or in the sand pit.
In 2006 two of my songs escaped from my house. One of them 'Night Night' got caught by Loop Recordings who displayed it on their Air New Zealand Fashion Week CD.
The other one 'General Dislike' enjoyed its time in the fresh air sitting at the number one spot on the Radio One (Dunedin) Top 11 and hung around for five weeks. It was also displayed on the Radio One 2006 CD Sampler.

As the songs got older they started contemplating sex and violence a little more than they should. I think they turned out okay though, except for one which has issues (I think is because it is short). That one's a recluse though, so you might never meet it.
I now have a band who plays with the songs with me. Some of them used to be in "One Million Dollars".
We all have fun with the songs. Sometimes it is dark fun. You should come and have dark fun with us too sometime.

Have a Lovely Day

<itunes:summary>Cosmic Rays are highly charged particles, born from inside clouds of gigantic exploded galaxies, and hurling through the universe at near light-speed. Cosmic Ray particles are passing through us constantly; their radiation causes cellular mutations which affect the development of life on earth. They pose a mortal threat to Interplantary astronauts, who once unshielded by the Earth's atmosphere would be fully exposed to their super high radiation.

Sci-Fi Gonk. Electro-skronked, dirty, psychedelic groove-rock. Featuring an original sound, inspired by a wide array of influences, interestingly including early Video Game Music soundtracks (covering Shadow of The Beast on the EP, and an ode to R-Type). Cosmic Rays produce a potent high energy force that moves people to dance and headbang at the same time. The Hadron Super Collider has nothing on Cosmic Rays.

Cosmic Rays Of Death formed at the begining of 2008, with Mike Logie (The Mint Chicks) on Bass & Vocoder. Together Matt, Mike and Si recorded the 'Of Doom' EP at Gundry Audio. This lineup made their dynamic debut at Camp a Low Hum 2008.

After a couple of release shows in Auckland and Wellington Mike Logie moved to the UK and Kent Briggs (Kittyhawk) is now taking over Bass and Vocoder duties.
Cosmic Rays Of Death are currently performing shows and encourage you to see them perform live, and to buy the excellent '...Of Doom' EP!

They also have a fantastic music video for the song R-Type (an ode to the video game) directed by Simon Ward (also Disasteradio 'Awesome Feelings'), which is viewable via You Tube or the bands Myspace.

Songs played:
1. Count Muon
2. R-Type

1. Count Muon
2. R-Type
3. Of Doom

Si Frost (The Managers) - Drums
Kent Briggs (Kittyhawk) - Bass, Vocoder

But when his colleagues in such ventures find their agendas already mapped out, their schedules filled with work and other daily chores,

Out of such circumstances Mr. Slackjaw was born..
Beginning with stripped down versions of tunes originally penned for other bands, and a number of unlikely bedfellows for cover songs,
Slackers has decided to use the 08 year to record a bunch for posterity. Nothing has yet been released but about 25 tunes have been loaded into the 'puter,

Start of Trees:
Jase initially discussed forming Trees with Tim while visiting London around a year ago while Tim was still playing in a band there.

Jase returned to NZ and started playing with friend Rikki before Tim returned from UK several months later. We experimented with a few different line ups including sit down drums before deciding exactly what we wanted.

Then we all kinda stole Gareth from another band.

We have been together officially for about 10 weeks and are now in the process of recording an EP which we hope to release in the next few months as well as a video.

Songs played:
1, Beautiful Women

<itunes:summary>I am Bird Boy. He makes and plays beats and raps and sings jazz standards with piano keyboard and voice. He is a white rapper in a market that is suspicious of things like him. He is so underground you probably have never heard of him and is not even on the computor. So this is your big chance to get a taste; jump like a monkey in a casino who has learned to play the slot machine and is winning.

Mack the Knife. This song is a famous old standard written by Kurt Weill for the Three Penny Opera. Mack is a murderous business villain who enjoys the swindle and the ladies. Maybe you went to see the recent production of the Three Penny Opera at the Maidment. Just for the record I was doing it before they even thought of it. Probably.

Geek Rap. An apology, a cringe and an act of defiance wrapped in a simple but delicious beat.

Peter and the Wolf. This little track taps into our subconscious desires to find the "Big Bad Wolf" somewhere in our lives. Go deep into the woods. Find him and call in the hunters and wood-choppers, they can save you. But can they save you from... Yourself?! (gasp)

Hopefully this all sounds good to you, the listener. Have a great day.</itunes:summary>
